Christmas gift tags make every present feel more thoughtful and festive. These free printable Christmas gift tags are created for easy, quick printing so your holiday gift wrapping is simple and beautiful.

I love adding gift tags to presents year-round, and especially at Christmas. Over time I found some lovely tags in stores, but last year I designed my own set and found that I preferred them to anything I bought. I refined the designs a bit and am sharing them here so you can use them for your holiday wrapping, too.

The collection includes several simple, classic designs that focus on clean lines and traditional colors. They print best on white cardstock so they have a sturdy feel on packages, but plain paper works if you prefer a lighter option. For best results, use cardstock, a hole punch, ribbon or twine, scissors, and a pen to write the names. Those are the only supplies you need.

How to use the printables

Download the PDF available on this page, then open it on your computer and print the pages you want. The file contains all tag designs so you can print as many copies as needed for your holiday giving. I kept the palette simple—black, red, and green—so the tags coordinate with most wrapping papers and ribbons. Note that printed color can vary slightly depending on your printer and the paper you choose.

Cutting and finishing tips

After printing, trim the tags with scissors or a paper trimmer for a straight edge. Use a hole punch to create a small hole for ribbon or twine. If you’d like, reinforce the hole with a paper reinforcement sticker or a small circle of clear tape on the back to prevent tearing during handling. Thread your ribbon, tie it to your package handle, or loop it around the bow for an instant finishing touch.

Personalization ideas

Write names and short messages in your handwriting for a personal touch. If you prefer a calligraphed look but don’t use calligraphy, a dark fine-tip pen or marker can give a neat, stylish finish. You can also add small embellishments like a dab of glitter, a tiny sticker, or a stamped icon to match your wrapping style. For a more rustic look, try natural twine and kraft paper; for something elegant, use satin ribbon with white or metallic paper.

Storage and reuse

Keep leftover tags flat in a folder or box so they’re ready for the next gift-giving occasion. Because these are print-at-home tags, you can easily print more if you use them up or want to try a different design mid-season.
