Over the next few days I’ll be sharing a few highlights from my spring break in
Duck, North Carolina.
Please note – this was not a sponsored trip. We simply love the Outer Banks.
Duck is a small, charming village on the northern Outer Banks — slow-paced, peaceful and very inviting.
It’s simply beautiful and a wonderful place to relax and recharge.
If you want more information about the town, local visitor guides and community pages are a great starting point.
My trip began last minute after seeing spring specials from Twiddy & Company for vacation rentals in Duck and neighboring Corolla. I already had another booking with them for early June, so when I noticed a few homes available for spring break, I jumped at the chance.
Twiddy & Company is family owned and operated. I’ve followed them on social media for a couple of years — they share beach photos, weather updates, visitor snapshots and local happenings. They also maintain an informative blog with tips for visiting the Outer Banks. This was my first stay through them and the whole experience was excellent. From check-in to check-out their team was warm and helpful, answering questions and offering suggestions to make our stay comfortable.
The rental market in Duck and across OBX is diverse. Twiddy manages a large inventory of vacation homes, and the property we chose was ideally located in the Sea Pines subdivision — a short walk or bike ride to shops and restaurants. The house itself was an immaculate semi-oceanfront with eight bedrooms, six full baths and two half baths. The kitchen was fully equipped, the home offered free fast Wi‑Fi, TVs in every bedroom, a media room with movie rentals, a hot tub, and plenty of space for indoor and outdoor gatherings.
Other features we appreciated included decks on the front and back, a fenced yard for games, a pool table, and an elevator that made moving luggage between levels much easier. For weekly stays, linens and towels were provided, which simplifies packing. There are also unique rental options across OBX, such as beach-accessible homes that require a 4×4, and many properties allow pets.
Money-saving tips: Spring break and early summer can offer excellent rates. Renting before mid-June is often much more affordable than peak summer weeks. Sharing a large home with friends or family spreads the cost and makes vacationing in OBX a great value.
Here is the beautiful spring break home we stayed in — an unforgettable spot I can’t wait to revisit!
White Sands II (rental name)
The beach access felt like our own private walkway to the shore.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
One of the best parts was how close the beach access was to the front door. We could step out and be on the sand within minutes, making early morning walks and sunset outings effortless.
Good morning, sunshine ☀
A heartfelt thank you to the friend who captured this sunrise photo.
My favorite part of the vacation was the quiet early mornings with a cup of coffee on the deck, watching the day begin over the water.
Our last night, the moon danced across the ocean — a peaceful end to a wonderful trip.
In my next post I’ll share more tips and highlights from Duck — favorite restaurants, activities and places to explore.
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!
UPDATE:
I’ve also published two additional posts from this spring break trip that highlight local favorites and day-to-day moments.
