Creamy hummus, warmly spiced merguez sausage, salty feta, and fresh mint come together on crisp naan flatbreads for an easy, satisfying recipe that works just as well for dinner as it does for a game day spread.
These merguez and hummus flatbreads are the kind of recipe that feels special without asking much from you. They are quick to assemble, full of bold flavor, and hearty enough to serve as a simple meal. If you are planning a casual gathering, a football watch party, or a relaxed weeknight dinner, this easy flatbread recipe fits right in.
I have always loved the food side of game day. Even if the game itself is not the main attraction, there is something fun about gathering around a table filled with snacks, appetizers, and shareable dishes. The best recipes for those moments are the ones that are easy to prepare, easy to serve, and flavorful enough to stand out. These hummus flatbreads check every box.
The inspiration for this recipe came from a local restaurant appetizer made with hummus, merguez, feta, and mint. The combination immediately made sense: creamy hummus balances the richness of the sausage, feta adds a salty bite, and fresh mint brightens everything at the end. Turning those flavors into naan flatbreads makes the dish more filling while keeping it simple and fun to eat.

Merguez is a deeply seasoned lamb sausage with a bold, savory flavor. Because it brings so much character on its own, you do not need a long list of ingredients to make these flatbreads taste complete. A small amount goes a long way, especially when it is crumbled and scattered over a creamy layer of hummus.
Hummus works beautifully as the base for this recipe. Instead of tomato sauce or cheese sauce, it gives the flatbread a smooth, rich layer that becomes warm and even creamier in the oven. If you have never tried warm hummus before, this is a great place to start. Its mild flavor helps soften the spice of the merguez, while za’atar adds an earthy, fragrant finish. If you do not have za’atar, oregano can be used instead.
Another reason to love these merguez and hummus flatbreads is how flexible they are. You can cook the sausage ahead of time, assemble the flatbreads, and bake them shortly before serving. That makes them a practical choice for entertaining because you can do most of the work before guests arrive. When it is time to eat, simply slide the flatbreads into the oven until the edges are crisp and golden.

Serve these flatbreads cut into small pieces as an appetizer, or offer each person a larger portion for a casual meal. They pair well with crisp vegetables, a simple salad, or other snack-style dishes. The contrast of warm naan, creamy hummus, spiced sausage, tangy feta, and cool mint makes every bite balanced and satisfying.
